effydesk vs Ergonofis: Two Canadian Standing Desks, One Clear Long-Term Value

Updated October 2026

effydesk is the better long-term value for most Canadian standing desk buyers, while Ergonofis suits buyers who want a handcrafted solid wood design piece. effydesk backs every standing desk with a 20-year warranty on the frame, motors and electronics, starts at $715 CAD and offers an L-shaped desk. Ergonofis starts at $1,195 CAD (Shift, regular price), covers its frames for 10 years and its motors and electronics for 5, and lists shipping times of 5 to 20 business days.

Ergonofis has earned its reputation. The Montreal brand is consistently praised for its solid wood surfaces and is Canada's most established premium standing desk company. Here is how the two Canadian brands compare on warranty, price, range and availability.

Update October 2026: The Ergonofis Sway and Alive, which showed as sold out in March 2026, are listed in stock again on ergonofis.com as of October 22, 2026, with some colour and size combinations unavailable. Ergonofis's warranty page notes that its current warranties cover desks bought on or after May 19, 2026. Check current availability on both sites before you order.

How Do effydesk and Ergonofis Compare at a Glance?

effydesk wins on frame warranty, trial length, entry price and model range, while Ergonofis wins on Sway and Alive lift capacity and surface warranty length.

The warranty rows deserve attention. effydesk covers the frame, motors and electronics for 20 years, twice Ergonofis's 10-year frame cover and four times its 5-year motor and electronics cover. On the surfaces, effydesk covers desk tops for 2 years and Ergonofis covers the Sway and Alive solid wood for 3 years.

Who Is Ergonofis?

Ergonofis is a Montreal standing desk company founded by Sam Finn and Kimberly Pontbriand, known for Canadian-made solid wood desktops and a curated three-desk range.

Ergonofis is widely considered Canada's leading luxury standing desk company, built around solid wood craftsmanship and a deliberately curated product range. Their three desks, the Shift, the Sway, and the Alive, have all been well reviewed. Ergonofis states that the Sway's frame is manufactured in North America.

Their strengths are real: beautiful solid wood surfaces made in Canada, a strong brand reputation, free cable net with every desk, and a 30-day return window. Their approach of limiting sizes and finishes to a small curated selection keeps quality consistent and intentional. For buyers who want a desk that is as much a design statement as a workspace tool, the Sway and Alive are compelling.

The limitations are equally factual. Shipping takes 5 to 10 business days for the Shift and 30-inch Sway, and 20 business days for the Alive and 24-inch Sway. There is no L-shaped option in the lineup. The solid wood surfaces on the Sway and Alive carry a 3-year warranty despite their premium price point. And there is no eco-friendly or recycled material option available.

What Standing Desks Does Ergonofis Make?

Ergonofis makes three standing desks, the Shift, Sway and Alive, starting between $1,195 and $2,895 CAD at regular price, each with a Canadian-made desktop and a 10-year frame warranty.

Ergonofis intentionally limits their range to three models and a small selection of sizes and finishes. This is a deliberate design philosophy. Ergonofis says the Sway and Alive frames are manufactured in North America, and the Shift is built and assembled in Quebec. Shipping times run from 5 to 10 business days to 20 business days, depending on model and size. Verify current pricing and availability at ergonofis.com before purchasing, as both change.

Availability note: The Sway and Alive showed as sold out on ergonofis.com in March 2026. As of October 22, 2026, both are listed in stock again, with some colour and size combinations unavailable.

All prices in CAD for the 24" x 48" size, checked October 22, 2026. Shift from $1,195 CAD (select colours on sale from $956), Sway from $1,895 CAD, Alive from $2,895 CAD. Verify current pricing at ergonofis.com.

Key observations:

• No L-shaped or corner desk in the lineup

• Limited size options: 3 widths on most models, no depth variation

• Solid wood surfaces on the Sway and Alive carry a 3-year warranty

• Shipping in 5 to 20 business days, depending on model and size

• No eco-friendly or recycled material option

How long is the Ergonofis warranty?

Ergonofis offers a 10-year limited warranty on all desk frames and 5 years on motors and electrical components. Solid wood surfaces on the Sway and Alive carry a 3-year warranty, and the Shift's laminate surface carries a 5-year warranty. effydesk's 20-year warranty covers the frame, motors and electronics on every model, including the solid wood Wildwood, with 2 years on the top.
